Prayer Services

At the Burnsville Masjid, you have the blessed opportunity to engage in the five daily prayers in congregation. These prayers, each offered at its designated time, are a cornerstone of the Islamic faith, fostering unity and devotion among our Muslim community. We welcome you to join your brothers and sisters in these important daily rituals.

“Indeed, prayer has been decreed upon the believers a decree of specified times.” (Surah An-Nisa 4:103)

Funeral Arrangements

As part of IIM, Minnesota Islamic Cemetery Association is a licensed funeral home conducting funeral and burial services according to Islamic teachings with locations in Burnsville, Maplewood and Columbia Heights. Beginning with a simple call to one of the numbers listed below, all arrangements are handled on behalf of the bereaved family. For peace of mind, the Association also offers multiple pre-need plans for families. In time of loss, click here to begin making arrangements.

“To Allah we belong and to Him is our return.” —Surah Al-Baqarah (2:156)

Invitation to Islam

Curious about Islam and Muslims? Islam means “submission to God.” Muslims believe in One God, the same God mentioned in the Torah and Gospel. We believe there’s only ever been One Message delivered to mankind, that God is One, prophets were chosen to deliver His message, and that holy books were sent down as guidance. Abiding by His commandments, Muslims strive to lead upright, disciplined lives. We believe that Prophet Mohammad (peace and blessings be upon him) was the last prophet and that the Holy Quran was the final Book revealed. When it comes to learning more about Islam, everyone is on the invitation list. Even you. Yes, you. Please reach out with questions. We’re here to help, either individually or in arranged group presentations.

Marriage Ceremonies

We have three volunteers certified by the State of Minnesota to conduct marriage services. Before the ceremony, couples MUST take out a marriage license from the county in which they reside. Ceremonies can take place anywhere, but preferably are performed at one of IIM's mosques. Advanced notice is extremely important. No fees are required but donations to the mosque are appreciated. AsSalam Mosque in Maplewood has an events space available for small wedding gatherings and the Burnsville Mosque features the large Crystal Events room. To make a reservation, please contact Abdurrahman Abdullahi at 612-440-3809 or at bv.abdirahman@gmail.com

The Prophet (pbuh) said: "Marriage completes half of one's faith; let him fear Allah in the other half." —(Musnad Ahmad)

Paying Your Zakat

In Islam, Zakat is a fundamental pillar and an essential act of worship. It is mentioned multiple times in the Quran and Hadith, emphasizing its importance as a means of purifying wealth and helping those in need. Zakat serves as a mechanism of reducing inequality, purifying wealth, and fostering social solidarity. Islamic Institute of Minnesota will accept your Zakat and distribute it to the needy in our community. For more information, please call Ashraf Eldomiatti at 651-428-0414.

"And establish prayer and give Zakat, and bow with those who bow [in worship and obedience]." —Surah Al-Baqarah (2:43)

Last Will

As American inheritance laws differ from Islamic law, the only way to make sure your estate will be distributed according to the Islamic jurisprudence is to leave a will. The Islamic Institute of Minnesota can administer Islamic wills and inheritance to fulfill both the religious and legal requirements. We provide all necessary assistance in warranting the distribution of the estate and channeling it into the hands of its rightful heirs and/or other lawful and charitable causes, ensuring all documented agreements are legally accepted in American courts. Complete confidentiality is emphasized in these matters. Furthermore, individual wills can be securely kept in the Institute's safe until needed. For more information, call Ashraf Eldomiatti at 651-428-0414.

"No Muslim with wealth should delay writing their will beyond two nights."—Sahih al-Bukhari

Divorce

According to American law, couples desiring a divorce must apply to the court. AFTER divorce is granted by the court, the couple may obtain a certificate of Islamic divorce from the Islamic Institute of Minnesota in the language of their choice. For more information, contact Abdurrahman Abdullahi at 612-440-3809 or at bv.abdirahman@gmail.com

Serving our local Muslim community since 2008.

Alhamdullilah, by the grace of Allah, the Islamic Institute of Minnesota became a reality for local worshippers nearly two decades ago. Spearheaded by the dedicated leadership of Brothers Ezzeddeen Taha, Amin Kader and Mohamed Elakkad, the community was able to raise approximately $1.25 million to purchase the former drugstore and convert it into the beautiful space we all enjoyed today. Around the same time, the leadership group additionally collaborated to launch the Minnesota Islamic Cemetery Association which provides our community with affordable, respectful burial services in accordance with Islamic teachings. The Association has plots available in Burnsville, Maplewood and Columbia Heights.
